Swiss franc flat versus euro

29 Nov, 2006

The Swiss franc stood mostly flat against the euro and strengthened slightly versus the dollar early on Tuesday ahead of a slew of data this week that may shed further light on whether the Swiss economy's healthy growth pace is continuing.
Markets will also be closely watching a speech by Swiss National Bank Chairman Jean-Pierre Roth later in the session to see whether the central bank will repeat the franc's low level against the euro means further rate hikes are needed. The franc was down 0.04 percent on the day against the euro, changing hands for 1.5836 per euro, above a 6-1/2 year low hit last week.
"A negative bias (for the euro against the franc) will persist following last week's break of trend line support, and we look for the 1.5800 suppose tracked the euro slightly higher at 1.2047 per dollar, or a 0.13 percent rise.
