City Nazim Sheikh Faisal Mukhtar has said that the district government will set up colleges and higher secondary schools in far-flung areas of the district. Addressing a public gathering here, he said the motive behind setting up these educational institutes was to educate girls of those areas where schools were not available to help elevate literacy rate in rural areas.
He said that the girls would not have to travel after establishment of colleges and schools in their neighbourhood. He said that revolutionary steps had been taken to eradicate poverty and unemployment from the district.
The city government had launched CNG rickshaw scheme and scrutiny of applications had been started to give vehicles to deserving youth, he said. Faisal said that buffaloes were also being given at half price to those having less than five acres of land. The half price will also be recovered in easy instalments, he added. The nazim further said that short courses on dairy and poultry farming were being initiated at Pak German Institute at Chak 5-Faiz.
