'Pak-India cultural exchanges to help develop cordial ties'

Provincial Minister for Education Mian Imran Masood has said that exchange of cultural and educational delegations between Pakistan and India has resulted in developing mutual pleasant and cordial relations.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of students of Journalism Department from Punjab University Chandigarh (India), headed by Professor Dr Manooj, here on Thursday. The delegation is visiting Lahore on the invitation of Mass Communication Department of Superior University Lahore.
The minister stated that people, especially relating to media could play a pivotal role for further improvement of these contacts, adding that subject of Mass Communication was taught in all the public and private universities of the country.
This discipline is popular among the students on account of its professional significance. With the promotion of electronic and print media in Pakistan, demand of media experts is rising day-by-day.
He hoped that visit of Indian students would provide them an opportunity to exchange their views and experiences in their respective field. Mian Imran Masood apprised the delegation of the salient features of the education reforms programme of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and briefed about the steps taken for the uplift of higher education.
