Call to check aquatic pollution

Punjab Fisheries Director General Dr Muhammad Ayub has said that due to aquatic pollution, fish production has diminished to a large extent and this shortage can be made up only through fish farming.
Presiding over a departmental meeting here on Thursday, Ayub said that as a result of measures taken by the government, fish farming had assumed the form of an industry.
He further said that besides 14 large production units operated by fisheries department, 29 nursery units were supplying fish seeds to the farmers, while more than 70 hatcheries were functioning in the private sector.
