PPP hopeful of Benazir coming to power for third time

Pakistan Peoples Party leaders have expressed the hope that party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto will become prime minister of the country for the third tenure as the party has decided to bring back the party chairperson in 2007, we would restore the constitution in the shape of October 12, 1999.
They made this pledged at a big public gathering held at Qasim Bagh (Qila Kuhna) on Friday in connection with its mass-contact drive. Earlier newly nominated president of PPP Punjab Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi was warmly accorded at Gaddafi Chowk (Chowk Kumharanwala) when he reached along with other PPP leaders. Entire route was decorated with party flags and welcome banners.
The PPP leaders said that the party was prepared to come into power and warned the religious forces not to play politics on religion. They assured that jobs would be provided to people whenever the PPP would come in power.
Addressing the gathering Vice Chairman PPP and Former Speaker of National Assembly Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Punjab President Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Zafar Abbas, General Secretary, Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar, Malik Ahmed Hussain Dehar, Khalid Hanif Lodhi, Khurshid Ahmed Khan, Khawaja Rizwan Alam, Salim Raja, Tariq Raza Khan, Salim-ur-Rehman Mayo, Malik Salahuddin Dogar, Begum Nasim Chaudhry, MNA, Dr Javed Siddiqui, MPA, Kanwar Zahid Ahmed Khan and others said that departure bugle had blown now present rulers would have to go back to home. They said that Chaudhries were highly terrified with the popularity of PPP and they had launched a mud-slinging drive against it.
They said that Pakistan Muslim League-Q had launched an election campaign and public funds are being spent lavishly. Election Commission should take notice of this pre-election rigging because entire government machinery and funds were being utilised for official League.
They said that PPP never believed in deal otherwise late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto would be alive and PPP rules at least one decade. The jubilant leaders in their speeches heralded immediate advent of what they called a government of the poor that would address all their problems of bread, clothing and shelter.
They said that the Pakistan Peoples Party has remained firmly committed to its principle of an egalitarian democracy, struggling ceaselessly in face of tyrannical dictatorships. They were certain that the election would be held in 2007 and said that it would be the last fight between the liberal, democratic forces with extremists and terrorists.
The PPP leaders, on this occasion, cursed the present rulers, and held them responsible for all the ills facing the country. They assured party workers that days of present government were numbered, and a new era of prosperity was going to dawn soon in the country with the advent of PPP government. The party MNAs, MPAs, senators, ticket holders and office bearers of different wings were attended the function.
The emotionally charged gathering of the PPP activists raised slogans and danced on party song while leaders had cut a cake and balloons and pigeons were also released on the occasion. The venue of the gathering was decorated with welcome banners and party flags.
