Winter rains start in country

Pakistan is in the grip of a strong westerly weather system which has resulted into wide spread rains and light to moderate snow over the mountains.
Met office said here on Sunday that this weather system is likely to prevail for another two days over Punjab, NWFP and Kashmir and expected to bring moderate, and at times, heavy rains along with heavy snowfall in hilly areas which may cause landslides.
After wide spread and at times heavy rains, the current spell is likely to subside Monday evening in Balochistan and Sindh provinces.
Main rainfalls during last 24 hours Gwadar 71 mm, Barkhan 57 mm, Kalat 42, Lasbella 39, Dir 38 mm, Parachinar 27 mm, Sibbi 21 mm, Malamjaba 21 mm, Pasni 20 mm, Chitral 19 mm, Quetta 15 mm, Peshawar 14 mm, Turbat 11, Jaconabad 07, Islamabad 05 mm and Sargodha 03 mm.
