The government is all set to start a non-stop train service between Rawalpindi and Peshawar on Tuesday to provide 'inexpensive means of communication', to the people.
NWFP Governor Ali Jan Orakzai will inaugurate the Peshawar Express whereas Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed will also grace the launching ceremony of the shuttle service between the two major cities. The railway authorities say that the new train will run twice a day and it will provide better travelling facilities to the people at economical rates.
When approached, Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed maintained that Peshawar Express will start shuttling between Rawalpindi and Peshawar according to the schedule.
"We are going to launch the non-stop train service tomorrow (Tuesday). All the arrangements have been finalised and there is no delay in it," Sheikh Rashid said while talking to this scribe. Earlier, a rail car was launched on the said route, however, the authorities had to halt it some one year ago.
The authorities have fixed the fare of Peshawar Express at Rs85 and it will make four trips each day between the two cities. It will leave Peshawar at 0700 hours in the morning and will reach Rawalpindi at around 1030 hours.
Similarly, the train would start from Peshawar at 1100 hours and will reach Rawalpindi at 1430 hours. In the second circle, Peshawar Express will be heading towards Rawalpindi at 1500 hours and would return back to Peshawar at 1900 hours in the evening.
