Reforms in doctors' service structure announced

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in order to improve service structure of doctors, on Wednesday announced reformatory steps. Under the steps, 50 percent postgraduate medical officers would be promoted to the post of senior registrars and assistant professors.
The CM said that increase had been made in the pays and non-practising allowance House Job doctors. He said allowance of House Officer had been increased to Rs 12,000 while allowance of Post-Graduate Trainee had been enhanced to Rs 15,000. He added that their annual increment now would be Rs 1,000.
The CM further told that non-practising allowance of Grade 17-18 had been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 4000 while of Grade 19-20, this allowance had been raised from Rs 700 to Rs 6000.
The CM averred that Tele Medicine Project was being introduced under which a Help Line would be established. He said under the facility on telephone, guidance on health issues would be provided.
