Multan to get modern operation theatres at MIC: minister

Punjab minister for Chief Minister's Inspection Team (CMIT) Colonel Shuja Khanzada (retd) said on Saturday that modern filter system will be installed at operation theatres of Multan Institute of Cardiology (MIC) to bring infection risk to less than one percent.
"MIC will also have a hybrid operation theatre to set into motion process of first aid to patient within seconds", the minister said during a visit to MIC here.
Five state-of-the-art operation theatres would be set up at MIC where modern filter system will reduce the infection risk to below one per cent offering a protection level of above 99 per cent.
He also confirmed that angiography facility at the MIC will start from next month.
Deputy Project Director MIC Dr Mushtaq Ahmad said that facility of surgeries in cases of emergency will begin at the MIC within the next two months.
He said that the government has released Rs 450 million funds while two Echo machines were being purchased at a cost of Rs 30 million.
DPD said that 400 patients avail facilities at outpatient department of MIC daily and the figure was counted at 7,353 for the month of November.
MIC also has digital x-ray machine and the result image is shifted immediately to consultant's computer for analysis.
Pharmacy Incharge Rabia Tabassum said that medicines were being offered to patients free of cost. Medicines worth Rs 13.5 million were offered to patients out of total Rs 20 million purchased by the hospital for the purpose.
Director Finance informed the minister that services of eight highly qualified and experienced professors have been hired at attractive salary package to fill the vacant seats after their interviews held in Britain.
He said that government has approved to fill 486 vacant seats at the MIC and 24 doctors from USA, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, and other countries have applied online for the jobs.
Selection Board, headed by Secretary Health Punjab, would meet at MIC on December 22 and 23 for interviews, he added.
