Provincial steering committee on Tameer-e-Sarhad Programme (TSP) on Monday approved development schemes worth millions of rupees for women and minority MPAs, being launched throughout the province.
A meeting was held with NWFP Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Sardar Muhammad Idrees in chair besides others was attended by the Secretary LG&RD Dr Hamad Awais Agha, DG LG&RD Abdullah Khan, Muhammad Awar of TSP, Habib Gul of Finance Department and Shakeel Iqbal of P&D Department.
Speaking on the occasion the minister asked the authorities to ensure the timely and quality completion of the schemes as he said funds for this purpose were provided from the taxes accumulated from the hard earned money of the masses and they must be benefited of its fruits. Similarly early preparation of the PC-I of the schemes and prompt execution on it was much more important.
He further directed the authorities to review the feasibility and public utility of schemes on realistic grounds. However, he cautioned that it must be aimed providing maximum facilities to the people instead of creating hurdles in way of implementing the development process.
Sardar Idrees said that MMA government like all other MPAs, has made 100pc increase in annual development funds of the women and minority assembly members and enhanced it from Rs 5 million to Rs 10 million that meant the development speed must gear up with same ratio.
He also asked the assembly members to evolve their development projects and its costs on need basis while ambiguity must be avoided so that the quarters concerned faced no difficulty in implementing it and people could be benefited accordingly.
He said that provincial government would never compromise on pace of development despite facing enormous financial hardships and resource crunches and would thus ensure provision of maximum funds for continuing the process of programme.
