The Lahore High Court (LHC) has disposed of a petition filed by a member of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) Mushtaq Mohal challenging the recruitment of prosecutors through Lahore High Court (LHC), as the law officer informed the court that a high-level committee has been constituted to look into the matter.
The law officer also informed the court that the committee would send its recommendations to Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) which would complete the process of appointments of the prosecutors.
The petitioner contended that appointments of the prosecutors was required to be made by the PPSC but the respondent High Court was making these recruitment illegally and without lawful authority. He said that LHC was making appointments without adopting prescribed procedure. He therefore prayed to the court to restrain the respondent LHC from making appointments of prosecutors.
