Pakistani textile exporters would not be in a position to win export orders for next year if export prices were not made competitive prior to Heimtextil Exhibition Germany starting from January 12, 2007.
This was stated by prominent businessman and exporter Rana Arif Tauseef, former chairman Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA), while talking to newsmen, here on Monday.
Appreciating the efforts of Federal Textile Minister Mushtaq Ali Cheema for his consistent efforts to bail out the textile industry and exports, Rana Arif Tauseef said that Pakistan's textile exports were at an important gross road where timely announcement of necessary supportive measures was very crucial. Elaborating his point he said that exporters plan and get their order for the whole year during the Heimtextil Exhibition Frankfurt.
Because bulk of the Western countries buyers and of world famous departmental stores visit this exhibition after Christmas vacations to place orders for next season and keeping in view the new fashion trends. If Pakistani exporters could offer competitive prices as compared to India, Bangladesh and China, they would be able to fetch substantial export orders for the next year, he added. He said that we have already lost initiative and time in the matter and an urgent and immediate action would be in greater national interest, he concluded.
