All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) has demanded of the President General Pervez Musharraf that non-Muslims involved in minor crimes should be released from jails and all discriminatory laws against the minorities must be repealed on the eve of Christmas.
In a statement Shehbaz Bhatti, Chairman All Pakistan Minorities Alliance here on Monday said that this gesture will promote interfaith harmony, unity and solidarity among the nation. He said interfaith harmony and religious tolerance is the need of the hour for that can only ensure emergence of Pakistan as progressive, democratic and enlightened state in the true sense.
Bhatti also demanded of the government to announce two national holidays on Christmas. He added that citizens by sharing and celebrating the religious festivals such as Christmas, Eid and Dewali together could promote better understanding, mutual respect and unity among the multi-faith society.
