Aga Khan's birthday celebrated

Like other parts of the country the 70th birth anniversary of Prince Karim Aga Khan was celebrated on Wednesday with traditional zeal and fervour throughout Northern Areas. The day was dawned with special prayer for integrity, solidarity and progress of the country.
Later, celebrations in connection with birth anniversary began which got momentum with the passage of time as a number of colourful events took place, including 'Bara Khana' and many other functions.
Special functions were also held where religious scholars highlighted the importance of the day and asked the people to forge unity among their rows and stressed the need for collective efforts to remove all sorts of differences.
All mountains and Jamat Khanas were illuminated while all other worship places were decorated. Local weekly newspapers and local units of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation at Gilgit and Skardu aired special programmes in connection with the birth anniversary of Aga Khan.
