Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri has said Pakistan stands by its principled position on Kashmir, which has been derived from the UN Security Council resolutions.
Talking to newsmen in Islamabad on Wednesday he said President Pervez Musharraf has not said anything new in his interview to the Indian channel but these proposals, he had made many times in past also which included demilitarisation, self-rule and joint management of the area.
He said President as a brave and courageous leader is always prepared to show flexibility but it could not be unilateral and India would have to show its flexibility too.
The Foreign Minister made it clear that Pakistan will never accept any solution to the Kashmir issue that is rejected by Kashmiris. He said peace could only come in the region through the settlement of this long-standing issue. On a question regarding any compromise between the two countries Mr Kasuri said it is not going to be a unilateral compromise but both the parties will have to show flexibility.
To another question, the Foreign Minister said war does not produce solution to any problem and it is a cumulative experience that wars can never solve the issues but the only way to resolve issue is a political dialogue. He said both Pakistan and India are nuclear power and having missiles and can destroy each other but the only feasible way to resolve the issue through dialogue.
