First ever Fata Levies under training

The Project Director Law Enforcing Agencies (Fata) Colonel Said Rasool (Retd) has disclosed that the strength of 500 newly-recruited Levies jawans will be trained during 12 months till December 2007. He was addressing the first ever batch of the Levies force, which is under training at Ghalanai Political Agency Headquarters, on Tuesday.
Political Agent Mohmand Agency Dr Jamal Nasir and Officer Incharge Training Team Major Dilshad Bangash (Retd) were also present on the occasion. Colonel Said Rasool said that three more batches would be imparted such training till December this year.
He said the training was being undertaken on the directives of the NWFP Governor Lieutenant General Ali Mohammad Jan Orakzai (Retd) who had issued special instructions to the concerned authorities with paying special attention to the training and to make the force compatible to any modern law-enforcing agency.
The training will cover subjects pertaining to law and order, minor tactics, traffic and mob control, poppy eradication, FCR, bomb disposal and quick reaction force (QRF).
A very well trained team will be available to the political authorities to execute their routine duties and maintain exemplary law and order in the agency. In Fata overall 2800 levies jawans are being recruited who will be imparted such training during the year 2007.
