Partly Facetious: who said what about Saddam's hanging?

17 Jan, 2007

"So who said what about Saddam's execution?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Well, its been over two weeks now since his execution and what with all the tapes of his hanging floating on the internet I was just curious."
"Reaction initially was pretty much along expected political lines, I would say."
"So Bush and his band of merry neo-conservatives either said it's Iraq's internal matter or like Poodle said that even though Britain was against the death penalty justice had been meted out..."
"But Poodle's deputy John Prescott said it was deplorable."
"And Poodle, the lame duck, can merely seethe at such flagrant disloyalty in his cave."
"But then ten days later and after Brown also lamented the hanging Poodle came out and said the manner was wrong but again that Saddam deserved what he got..."
"That guy has lost all sense of decency."
"Politics is about never having to say you are sorry."
"In his case certainly."
"Libya declared a day of mourning..."
"Dictators all over the world should..."
"He was the only one."
"Did you hear what India said?"
"Yes, that it was a deplorable act."
"I think apart from Yemen no other Middle Eastern country condemned the killing."
"They are not in touch with the realities on their own streets."
"Indeed and what did our esteemed leaders say?"
"The Chosen One said that the present assemblies will complete their term."
"Topical, isn't that?"
"Don't be facetious. He will talk of what matters to him."
"And a death without a foreign trip doesn't quite matter, does it?"
"Nope."
"What about Musharraf?"
"Last we heard from him he wanted us to share our wealth with the poor."
"The book money..."
"Nothing on that but perhaps he will declare his wealth before he gets reelected."
"If wishes were horses..."
"Not in this instance."
