The Punjab government has evolved a strategy to ensure pollution-free environment in major industrial towns of the province. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday.
Under the programme "Common effluent treatment" plants would be installed in Sialkot and other major industrial towns. The installation work of these plants had already been initiated in Lahore and Faisalabad while remaining plants would be installed in near future, they said.
They said the government was mobilising all modes and channels to reduce pollution load caused by industries, especially tanneries functioning in various cities of the province.
The government is actively considering to establish 'Enterprises Development Organisation' shortly to organise the cottage industry and provide solid footing to artisans engaged with different industries in the province.
Under this programme technical assistance and marketing facilities would be extended to the artisans for promoting local products, so that their financial condition could be improved.
