Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Ehsan-ul-Haq called on Abdelmalek Guenaizia, Defence Minister Delegate of Algeria on Sunday. General Ehsan-ul-Haq concluded his five-day official tour of Algeria.
The meeting with the Algerian Defence Minister reflected the warmth and friendship between Algeria and Pakistan.
It dwelled upon enhancing mutual cooperation between the two countries which shared a common view on international and regional issues. The main focus of the discussion included issue of global terrorism, measures for enhancing defence industry and military to military cooperation amongst the two brotherly countries.
During the first ever-official visit by the senior most officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces to Algeria, Chairman JCSC highlighted the role and perspective of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism, the importance of sharing experience and information for a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism. The two leaders also shared views on regional and global issues.
Earlier, General Ehsan Ul Haq visited the African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism. He was received by the Director of the centre, Abdelhamid Boubazine.
The director explained that the centre was officially established by the African Union in Algiers, in October 2004 and provides technical expertise on the prevention of terrorism to the Commission of the African Union, as well as facilitating international cooperation to enhance African States' capacity to address the threat of terrorism.
