'Socioeconomic conditions of common man to be improved'

Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Khan Jatoi has said that government is carrying out record development programmes across the country to uplift the infrastructure and improve the socio-economic conditions of the common man. He stated this while addressing the energising ceremony of village Guhram Khoso of union council Oazi Arif of Taluka Mahar on Saturday evening.
The minister lauded the dynamic leadership of President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. He said people in far-flung areas are getting benefits of development projects.
The minister said that 15 KVA transformer has been installed at a cost of Rs 0.258 million to provide electricity to the village.
He said development of the backward areas of Dadu district is also the part of the development programme of the present government.
Liaquat Jatoi told that Rs 10 million each granted by President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz during their visit to village Beto Jatoi, are being spent on various development schemes in the remote areas of the district. The people of Dadu district will soon witness their area developed like other developed districts of the country as a result of massive development projects being executed in different parts of Dadu, he added.
The minister told that Rs 160 million are being spent for supply of electricity in 350 villages of the district, while 150 villages will also get the gas facility.
The installation of streetlights and provision of clean drinking water in Dadu town are also part of the development projects of the district, he said and added that work is being carried out for construction of Nai-Gaaj Dam and Gorakh Hill Station in the district.
The minister directed the officers concerned to complete all development schemes within the stipulated period.
