The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) may appoint Usman Khalid Mirza, a grade-21 official of Income Tax Group as a private member. Sources told Business Recorder on Monday that the board is likely to appoint Mirza, Director General Inspection and Internal Audit as Member Taxpayer Education and Facilitation (Fate).
Presently, Habib Fakhruddin is working as full-fledged Member Tax Policy and Reforms (TP&R) as well as Member Fate. He has also been given assignment as CBR official spokesman and chairing various committees/working groups on reforms etc and interacting with the chambers, federations and trade bodies.
To share the responsibility, there are chances that Mriza may be me appointed as Member Fate, sources said. Interestingly, the slot of five private members was exclusively created for experts from the private sector. The private members are Member Human Resource Management (HRM); Member Fate; Member, Fiscal Research and Statistics; Member Audit and Member Information Management System (IMS). This is for the first time that a government official may be appointed on the seat of private member.
