Ten persons sustained injuries as six bogies of Allama Iqbal Express train derailed at Hussainabad, Hyderabad on Friday evening. Allama Iqbal Express bound for Lahore was coming from Karachi, when its six bogies derailed and overturned.
Officials of Hyderabad district administration, Rangers and Pakistan Railway rushed to the spot. The police, rangers personnel, Edhi volunteers and area residents took the injured passengers out of the derailed compartments.
The injured were rushed to Shah Bhitai Hospital Latifabad and Civil Hospital. The district administration declared emergency in government hospitals after the incident.
The railway traffic between Karachi and Punjab was suspended after the accident. An official suspected the accident might be a subversive activity. However, railway authorities said officials of engineering department were inspecting the site.
