The District government has taken strict notice of the profiteers and sub-standard commodities being sold in Sasta Bazaars of the metropolis besides directing the Administrator Market Committee to keep strong check on these bazaars.
The District Nazim, Raja Javed Akhlas along with District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) on Sunday visited Sasta bazaars of the metropolis and issued directives of cancellation of over nine stall holders for selling sub-standard edibles.
Besides special magistrates also imposed fines of Rs 30,000 on various profiteers that was collected on the spot.
Talking to journalists, the District Nazim said that the drive against profiteers will be continued and warned for strict action against the selling of sub-standard edibles to the people.
He said that the District government will leave no stone unturned for the welfare of the people and ensuring supply of quality kitchen items in the markets and Sasta bazaars.
He said that the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has been directed to provide clean drinking water to Sasta bazaars on permanent basis and ensure cleanliness of these bazaars.
The District Nazim also directed the officials of Labour Department to keep strong check on skills of weightage and also compare these with the skills of the other markets. He also directed the Health Department to take samples of various items and check these in laboratories against adulteration.
