Islamabad Traffic Police to install mobile weigh station

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) will install 'mobile weigh station' to check overloading on highways especially on Kashmir and Islamabad highways.
Senior Superintendent of police (Traffic) Dr Sultan Azam Temuri said ITP was negotiating with Capital Development Authority (CDA) to achieve mobile weigh station so that overloading could be checked on highways, especially on Kashmir and Islamabad highways.
To acquaint the masses with traffic laws and regulations, ITP FM Radio would be set up and the traffic laws would be included in syllabi at middle and intermediate level, he told APP on Sunday.
The SSP said we are negotiating with Allama Iqbal Open University to finalise the syllabus.
He said Islamabad traffic police (ITP) had decided to link digital driving license system with National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) for verification of applicants' national identity card.
There would be Online verification so that complete record of the applicants could be verified before issuing driving license, the SSP said. During its 1st year, he said, ITP issued 3,64,312 traffic violation tickets through which Rs 9,93,51,300 revenue was generated.
