One man died and three others wounded on Sunday when an unused bomb went off in village-138 Abbasia, Liaquatpur, some 190 km south of Multan. The Deputy Inspector General of Police Bahawalpur, Ghulam Haider Marth, when contacted on Monday said it was an accident occurred due to recklessness of some youths.
According to him four youths went to a nearby military exercise area where they found a missed bomb lying idle and took it to their home. They tried to break it resultantly it went off violently.
One Mohammad Imran, alias Abrar (18), died and his cousins Fayyaz Ahmed, Ayaz Ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz wounded, reports reaching here said. Fayyaz being in a critical condition was referred to Victoria Hospital, Bahawalpur, while others removed to tehsil headquarters hospital Liaquatpur for treatment.
Union Council Nazim Imtiaz Ali Raja said the administration had warned several times the people living near the exercise area not to lift bullets and bombs from the dunes.
