Sindh information adviser Salahuddin Haider has urged the Pakistan Television (PTV) to show respect to poets, men of letters, all of whom are national assets and deserved to be treated as such.
In a statement on Monday, he regretted the state TV's apathy towards Mohsin Bhopali, a great poet of our time who has unfortunately gone unsung. The media, except for a few organisations, failed to pay him the tribute he deserved after his demise.
"It has been brought to my knowledge that the PTV was trying to cut down the length of a recorded programme on Mohsin Bhopali", Haider said and disclosed that he had spoken to PTV managing director Ashraf Azim on the subject.
He would publicly protest if some officials at PTV headquarters tried to minimise the importance of Mohsin Bhopali. Haider appealed to the President, Prime Minister and Information Minister to look into the matter and direct the PTV to treat our national heroes with due respect.
