The average price of Bangladesh teas fell 4.47 percent to 91.04 taka ($1.31) per kg on poor quality at a weekly auction on Tuesday, brokers said. "Some 812,828 kg kg were sold at an average price of 91.04 taka per kg, down 4.26 taka from the last sale," said an official of the National Brokers Limited, the country's largest tea broker.
The withdrawal percentage was 55.48, the highest for the current growing season, he said. Buyers from Pakistan and Bangladesh participated in the auction, in which different grades sold at between 45 and 179 taka per kg. The next weekly auction will be held on February 13, with an expected offering of nearly 1.70 million kg.
