The Ministry of Population Welfare's (MoPW) 'Population House' will be completed soon with the cost of Rs 123.039 million, sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday. The sources said that the new building was being constructed under new building codes of CDA that were changed after disastrous earthquake of October 8.
Due to implementation of the new building codes, the construction was delayed. After completion of Population House, the ministry's offices will be shifted to the new building, they said. Total covered area of the 'Population House' is 2,218 square yards and initially three storeys will be constructed.
The construction of the Population House is meant to bring its scattered offices under one roof thus saving rent of Rs 446,217.64 per month being paid on hiring commercial buildings. They said that the construction work has been assigned to the Pak PWD and Nespak was consultant of the project.
