Karachi LTU to get latest IT backup

The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) would provide the Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU), Karachi with the latest IT equipment and improved infrastructure facilities at an estimated cost of Rs 5,685,000. Sources told Business Recorder on Saturday that the LTU.
Karachi is facing problems in its smooth functioning due to obsolete infrastructure, which would be replaced with the latest computers and other machines for proper working of reformed unit dealing with the largest taxpaying companies.
Sources said that the Director General, LTU, Mukhtar Ahmed Gondal informed the CBR that there is an immediate need to modernise the LTU with the latest equipment. The DG, LTU informed the CBR that some of the senior officials are working without personal computers and other officers were equipped with outdated computers.
The CBR has decided to provide a number of printers including networking printers and new servers. Funds would also be allocated for UPS and other IT related equipment, scanner machines, the possibility of exploring facility of video conferencing would also be examined.
The board would also provide new personal computers to the LTU, Karachi. It would be linked electronically with the National Tax Number (NTN) Cell, Karachi for regularly updating the NTNs obtained by the business community.
