04 Mar, 2007

Three US soldiers died on Saturday after being fatally wounded in a bomb attack in central Baghdad, the military said. The statement only identified the casualties as attached to Multinational Corps Iraq, the unit that provides the US-led coalition's operational command.
They "died of wounds suffered after an improvised explosive device exploded next to their vehicle." The deaths brought to 3,166 the US military's losses in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion, according to an AFP tally based on Pentagon figures.
