NDMC to effectively deal with problems of quake victims

04 Mar, 2007

Federal Information Minister Mohammed Ali Durrani has said the government has constituted National Disaster Management Council (NDMC) to effectively deal with the problems of October 2005 earthquake victims.
He was talking to media before the commencement of the foundation stone laying ceremony of the All Pakistan Memon Federation Secretariat at the Governor House on Saturday. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was the chief guest at this occasion.
Durrani said the opposition was invited to join hands at this time of difficulties and participate in the council but it had refused to accept the invitation.
He said it was very unfortunate and reflective of their attitude toward human sufferings. He said PPP had decided to go against this move of the government. "This amount to boycott of the council. It proves their negative thinking and opposition for the sake of opposition."
The minister said opposition should review its stance on the National Disaster Management Council, as it was an issue of great national importance. He said that the recent bye-elections in Sindh had proved that people were with PML (Q).
He said the recent public meetings of President Pervaz Musharraf in Sindh were a great success and people had come from distant places to listen to what Musharraf had to say to them.
The opposition should know that they had lost Sindh Card and it was now with General Musharraf. He talked about development and economic progress in the country and stressed the need to maintain continuity of all policies of the government. "These would bring changes for better in the country" he added.
