Cambodia condemns websites linking king

05 Mar, 2007

Cambodia's royal palace on February 27 condemned several websites for using King Norodom Sihamoni's name to advertise Las Vegas casinos, boat charters and hotel deals.
The palace said it had the right to prosecute those behind the sites for slander. The palace "vigorously condemns all person usurping (the king's) name, for their personal use or to slander the sovereign," said a statement dated February 23.
The sites offer deals on casinos, travel, hotels and household goods, as well as boating charters. Other sites listed by the palace appear not to work.
