The Federal government has prepared a strategy for setting up information technology (IT) parks in major cities of the country, said Federal Parliamentary Secretary for IT and Telecommunications Riffat Javaid Kahlon here.
Talking to Business Recorder at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Tuesday evening, she added that efforts were being made for establishment of IT park in Sialkot keeping in view the importance and contribution to national exchequer through the exports.
Riffat Javaid disclosed that the IT park of Lahore would be accomplished within one year and work on the project was in full swing. Apart from this, the government had decided to introduce e-government in the country aimed at facilitating the general public and to improve the functioning of government departments, she revealed.
The Parliamentary Secretary for IT said that initial work on e-government programme had already been undertaken and its completion would help mitigating the peoples problems, besides people would be able to get necessary information on their computers.
Riffat Javaid said that due to effective government policies, efforts were being made for providing telecommunication facility to the masses living in urban and rural parts of the country.
Due to the effective government policies, the telecommunication sector had become fast growing sector and the largest sector in the country, which had not only provided the telecommunication facility to common man, but this sector had also generated the employment opportunities for the educated and skilled persons, she said.
The government had focused special attention on providing quality telecommunication service to the customers on reduced price in the country aimed at making it affordable, she said.
