Mall Plaza's case hearing put off till March 8

08 Mar, 2007

The Lahore High Court adjourned the proceedings of a petition filed against the government for allotting a residential plot for construction of a mall plaza till March 8. The petitioner, a resident and NGOs approached the court against the action of the respondent government.
The petitioners' counsel contended that the respondent government, in violation of rules and regulations, allowed a private company to construct an IMAX Mall Plaza in residential areas of Gulberg.
He said that the construction of the plaza in residential areas would create problems for the people living there. It would also prove hazardous for the environment, he added. The petitioners' counsel was still submitting his submissions when the court rose for the day.
