08 Mar, 2007

The chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Textile Industry, Chaudhry Nazir Ahmed Jatt and other members visited All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) here on Wednesday. They met various stakeholders of the industry to understand the prevailing textile industry crisis and its consequential impact on the national economy.
The committee was briefed over international textile situation, Pakistani textile industry situation and incentives being given by the competing countries to their industries. Chairman of the committee assured that the committee was effectively representing the case to the government to bail out the industry from crisis at the earliest to avoid a large-scale closure and the resultant unemployment.
The Chairman further said he would immediately convene a joint session of the Standing Committee of National Assembly and the Senate together with government officials to address and resolve the genuine problems of textile industry.
