A day-long meeting of representatives of Accreditation Councils on 'Good Practices for Quality Assurance for Accreditation in Pakistan' held at the Higher Education Commission Secretariat on Wednesday to discuss the good practices, challenges and issues of accreditation in the country.
The meeting decided to sign a formal memorandum of understanding (MoU) between each accreditation council and the HEC for effective collaboration to reflect that efforts would be made to improve the quality of higher education across disciplines, says a press release.
The accreditation councils carry out accreditation with reference to self-assessment and external quality assessment standards. HEC Executive Director Dr S Sohail H Naqvi presided over the meeting. The accreditation councils agreed to recognise HEC's role as a facilitating and guiding body for higher education sector.
The councils are independent, they have autonomous responsibility for its operations and judgements made in its reports cannot be influenced by a third party.-PR
