World Cup 2007

11 Mar, 2007

At last, uncertainty about Pakistan World Cup squad came to an end, when the two quickies were declared unfit, and an all-rounder ousted from the team quite mysteriously to make place for a redundant player, who was out of international cricket for quite some time.
Such things do happen when the chief selector and the captain are timid. If batsmen perform well in the World Cup and provide good score then the bowlers will use their wisdom against the opposition. Only advice to the bowlers is to watch again and again straight spell of 10 overs of Shaun Pollock in the last ODI against Pakistan.
He hurled 60 balls, all on the off-stump with nagging length and made our top order batsmen to make mistakes. He took 5 wickets for less than 30 runs in the process. If three of our bowlers are able to learn the tactics applied by Pollock, the World Cup trophy will be much nearer to the dream of our nation.
Matches are won by the team, which shows good performance. Non performing team stands to lose. But some times the loosing team puts-up a performance, which takes it nearer to the victory, but they loose in the end.
