Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) will observe shutter down and take out protest processions on Tuesday against the suspension of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Black flags and buntings would also be hoisted during the protest.
PMAP Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai, who is also the President of PONM announced this while addressing a press conference here on Sunday. PMAP Central Secretary General Akram Shah, Senator Nawab Ayaz Jogezai, Dr Hamid Achakzai, former Nazim Zarghoon town Abdul Qahar Wadan and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
Mahmood Achakzai said: "We have decided to do whatever we can against the suspension of Chief Justice. We would observe complete shutter down in Quetta on March 13. Black flags and buntings would also be hoisted in the metropolis. A protest meeting would be held at Meezan Chowk." He appealed to political parties particularly MMA and ARD to participate in shutter down. He said Senator Abdul Rahim Mandokhel would represent his party at the conference convened by MMA President Qazi Hussain Ahmad.
He said the country was passing through very serious era. If rulers did not take immediate action any thing could happen. He said Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was suspended because he had refused to agree with generals. It was in punishment. He said since its creation, Pakistan had always been governed by military rulers and democracy was almost non existent. He said that since the appointment of Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as Chief Justice of Pakistan, it was hoped that he would keep judiciary independent.
He made efforts but military rulers did not like this and he was suspended.
Achakzai said that an interim government should be constituted comprising judges who had not taken oath under PCO so that independent and just general elections could be held.
He said military's task was to defend borders of the country and not to rule. He said: "Presently martial law prevails in the country and if any one says that now rulers perhaps want to impose emergency in the country they are deceiving themselves because martial law already exists in the country. In the presence of this there is no need for imposing emergency."
PMAP leader said all the political parties should gather at one platform by sinking their differences to save the country and chalk out a programme to get rid of the government. If present government remains in power any more it might endanger the country's integrity.
Mahmood Achakzai said that a meeting of PONM central Committee had been summoned in Wadh on March 15 and 16 in which future course of action and other important issues would be discussed.
Answering a question he said people of Balochistan wanted their rights but they were treated as traitors. Until their rights are admitted, the issue would not be resolved and no solution of the problems could be found.
Answering another question he said rulers could not resolve problems and they were unnecessarily interfering in the affairs of neighbouring countries. He said Pakistan's interference in Afghanistan was continuing and recent a bomb explosion took place at Pak-Iran border.
Pakistan's ambassador was summoned immediately and he was told not to make any interference in the neighbouring countries affairs.
