Balochistan Bar Council would not boycott courts like other so called lawyers bodies over removing chief justice of Pakistan and filing reference against him. This was stated by Vice Chairman Balochistan Bar Council Amanullah Kanrani Advocate while addressing a press conference here on Sunday.
Amanullah Kanrani said that justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is very respectable for us and we have no complaint against him. But there is need to highlight certain facts to the masses.
He said justice Iftikhar was made advocate general Balochistan by Nawab Muhammad Akbar Bugti after taking oath as chief minister in 1989. He was made judge of Balochistan High Court through the efforts of caretaker prime minister Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi and Balochistan caretaker chief minister Humayun Marri in 1990. When father of justice Iftikhar died, Nawab Bugti visited his residence for three days continuously. But it is regretted that when Nawab died, justice Iftikhar Chaudhry forgot social relations and did not bother to offer Fateha for Nawab Bugti.
As against this present acting Chief Justice, judges of Supreme Court and Balochistan High Court visited his residence and offered Fateha. He disposed off a petition against misbehaviour of former chief justice Amirul Mulk Mengal by FC at a check post very silently. He did not take any notice of removing dozens of children from Cantt School despite approaching High Court and their future was darkened.
Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry interfering in the constitutional rights of NWFP Assembly remanded Hasba bill two times and disappointed elected representatives of a federating unit. He also counted several other actions in which no relief was provided.
He said action under Article 209 of the constitution should be activated for establishing a transparent judiciary so that people must not have any doubt for those sitting on the chair of justice.
He said it is the demand of Islam and moral responsibility that person of a judge should be transparent like a mirror. There is very clear difference between bribery and gift. He said an emergent meeting of Balochistan Bar Council has been summoned here on Tuesday to chalk out future course of action.
