Women's Expo attracts 100,000 women

Provincial Minister for Health Iqbal Gujjar has said that the holding of Women Expo-2007 is a very good effort and organisers deserve appreciation in this regard. He expressed these views while speaking at the concluding ceremony of Women Expo-2007 at Fortress Stadium Expo Centre here on Sunday.
"We should give women the status and position in society, which they deserve according to the teachings of Islam, he said. Minister shown keen interest in handmade products and appreciated the efforts of the authorities for subsidising the fee for setting up a stall for rural women at the Ahan pavilion.
The exhibition was organised by 4th Dimension Pvt. Limited in collaboration with Department of Women Development, Government of Punjab, German Agency for Technical cooperation (GTZ) and Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) along with several other government and non-government organisations.
Women artisans from Jhang, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Lahore, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh & Raiwind participated in exhibition.
Many competitions and activities were also arranged including talent hunt competitions, recipe competitions, beauty workshops and makeovers etc. More than 100,000 people visited the exhibition, which shows the interest of masses in such lively events.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion Minister for Women Development Ashifa Riaz Fatyana said that Pakistani women manufacture best quality handmade products that could be exported to the whole world. She said that first Women's Expo held in Lahore last September was attended by more than 100,000 women.
