Hospitality business to be promoted: minister

Minister for Culture, G.G Jamal has said that the government is keen to promote hospitality business for promotion of tourism in the country. He stated this while addressing the participants of the reception to mark the 5th anniversary of Islamabad Serena Hotel held here on Saturday night.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tourism Promotion Services (TPS) and Managing Director of Serena Hotels Aziz Bollani and General Manager of the hotel Khalid F Helmy also spoke on the occasion. Diplomats, senior government officials, members of the business community and journalists attended the ceremony.
He said that the hotel has great contribution to provide standard hotel services to the foreign guests.
G.G Jamal congratulated the management of the hotel for completing their five years of services and appreciated its role for promotion of tourism in the country.
He also lauded the Aga Khan Foundation and its efforts and contribution for the promotion of tourism and environment sectors in the country.
CEO Aziz Bollani said that Islamabad Serena Hotel was inaugurated by President General Pervez Musharraf in the presence of Prince Karim Aga Khan and Chairman of TPS Prince Amin Mohammad Aga Khan in March 2002.
He also highlighted the expansion programme of the hotel and said that another 90 rooms will be added to the existing 105 rooms for provision of greater facilities to the guests.
He added that the hotel has hosted many heads of foreign countries and delegations since its inception in March 2002. Speaking on the occasion the GM of the hotel Khalid F Helmy said that the hotel is playing important role for promotion of tourism in the country.
