Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has issued 17604 challans against illegal commercialisation of domestic buildings during last six months. More than 200 such buildings, most of them guesthouses, have been sealed.
LDA sources told APP here on Sunday that action was taken against the buildings in the areas of Gulberg, Johar town, Faisal town, Model town, Muslim town and Garden Town.
Cases have also been initiated against the owners of six guesthouses on the charges of breaking seals of buildings affixed by LDA officials. LDA has also collected an amount of Rs 260 million as commercial usage charges from various buildings during current year, they said.
The collected amount is higher than the collection of corresponding period of previous year, sources said adding that LDA would surpass the target for the year in this regard. LDA's territorial jurisdiction comprises 20 percent area in Lahore while rest of the area comes under the administration of various towns.
Total collection under the same head by Towns administration was just Rs 60 million during the same period, the sources said. LDA has commercialised more than 600 buildings during last 6 months after fulfilling the procedural formalities.
The procedures for commercialisation of domestic buildings have been made easy and 48 roads in the city have been declared commercial.
