A national conference on education for sustainable development in Pakistan will be held at a local hotel from March 21. This was announced here on Monday by Saquib Hanif, Head of the Education, Communication and Knowledge Management Group of the World Conservation Union IUCN Pakistan.
The two-day moot is being held in collaboration with Unesco, he added.
Saquib pointed out that IUCN seeks to influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable.
In Pakistan, he added, the IUCN seeks to fulfil this mission by empowering communities to participate in the implementation of the national conservation strategy.
Saquib further pointed out that environmental education has been much debated in the last two decades and its linkages with sustainable development were clearly established.
