Role of NGOs acknowledged

Advisor to Chief Minister Saba Sadiq has said non-governmental organisations (NGOs) play an important role in the uplift of society and without their contribution no government can advance in the social sector.
She expressed this while addressing the annual function of Society for Education and Technology (SET) which was attended by Air Marshal Khurshid Anwar Mirza (Retd), Seth Abid, Director TEVTA Aftab Ahmed and Base Commander, Lahore.
Saba Sadiq said Punjab Government has evolved a comprehensive strategy for supporting the working welfare organisations and help them financially. She added that education field also needs special attention and due share of NGOs in government efforts. She announced a donation of Rs 100,000 and 10 computers for the Society.
She said population of middle class plays an important role in the development of any nation and assistance to them by non-governmental organisations is vital for real development. She appealed the philanthropists to come forward and share generously in welfare oriented activities.
Addressing the function, Air Marshal Khurhsid Anwar Mirza announced to award the portfolio of Patron in Chief of the Society for Saba Sadiq. He said useful technical education being provided to the female segment of society on very nominal fees. Later, Saba Sadiq distributed certificates among 60 girls who completed their courses under the aegis of Society for Education and Technology in the last academic year.
