Retail grocers refuse to accept CDGK's price list

13 Mar, 2007

Karachi Retail Grocers Groups (KRGG) has refused to accept the price list of essential commodities issued on Monday by the City District Government Karachi (CDGK), saying that it was formed without taking into confidence.
Representative of KRGG said in the course of formation of the price list of essential items, they had been ignored and CDGK in consultation with an unknown business cartel finalised it.
He demanded of the City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal and DCO Fazl-ur-Rehman to take notice of the negative development done on part of the CDGK and intervene to resolve the issue faced by the small grocers in the metropolis.
He said most of the commodities were not available in the market despite this they had been included in the price list, which was also confronting the grocers with the magistrates on a daily basis.
He said in the past KRGG had co-ordinated with the CDGK and concerned authorities in formation of price list and supported their all-legal moves in this regard.
Meanwhile, CDGK has announced to issue a price list of essential items on a monthly basis with a view to facilitate the public.
CDGK officials concerned have asked all the grocers in the city to display CDGK's issued price list at their shops and follow it during their daily transactions.
