Nokia and Telenor extend agreement till 2009

Nokia and Telenor Pakistan on Monday announced that they have extended their existing frame agreement on GSM radio network equipment and services until 2009. Over the period, Nokia will deliver + 2000 base stations along with building and managing the radio network in close association with Telenor Pakistan.
The cooperation aims at increasing Telenor network coverage and capacity in most of Punjab, NWFP, Azad Kashmir and northern regions of Pakistan, including the capital city of Islamabad, says a Nokia press release.
"The continuing cooperation with Nokia enables us to quickly roll over high-quality radio network while reducing our operating expenses," says Tore Johnsen, CEO, Telenor Pakistan. "In addition, the Nokia Managed Services are efficient at handling the complexity of the demands that we face in the market as Telenor Pakistan grows at an enormous speed."
