Prime Minister announces Rs 150 million grant for VTI students

Chairman Punjab Vocational Training Council, Sikandar Mustafa Khan has said that the Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz has announced a grant of Rs 150 million to be disbursed annually through Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal among 10,000 students of 140 vocational training institutes (VTIs) at the rate of Rs 15,000 each.
He stated this while talking to the passed out students of different vocational training institutes who called on him in his office on Monday. Sikandar Mustafa Khan eulogised the announcement made by the Prime Minister and termed it a milestone in achieving the target of preparing one million skilled workforce annually by 2010.
He said the Prime Minister had appreciated the role of VTIs in poverty alleviation and also assured all out support to project vocational training all over Pakistan. With the help of this grant, PVTC would be in a better position to enable the passed out students to start their own business, he added. He said that all the VTIs would be equipped to impart cluster-focused training to the students particularly in the areas of great demand.
