Khusro represents Pakistan at Geneva moot

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar is representing Pakistan at a high-level segment of the three-day fourth session of the human rights council started from Monday (Today) in Geneva. According to a press release issued here by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khusro Bakhtyar would address the human rights council.
Human rights council was established in June 2006 as a subsidiary organ of the UN General Assembly. It has been entrusted with the promotion and protection of all human rights, civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights, including the right to development. The council has 47 members, elected by the UN General Assembly for a term of two years.
Pakistan is currently a member of the council. On the sidelines, the State Minister will hold bilateral meetings with a number of other heads of delegations, including the vice president of Columbia, foreign minister of Jordan, minister for justice and human rights of Sudan, foreign minister of Iran, vice minister of foreign affairs of Japan, deputy minister for foreign affairs of Russian federation, foreign minister of Cuba and the foreign minister of Republic of Korea. During these meetings issues of bilateral interests will be discussed.
