Food Department Punjab has decided to set up a modern storage system to preserve the wheat stocks under which steel silos would be constructed at various spots of the province.
Giving details in this regard, Minister for Food, Punjab, Hussain Jahanian Gardezi said that measures are being taken to increase storage capacity in the areas of high growth and consumption of wheat. He further said that Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan have greater production of wheat whereas its consumption is higher in Lahore and Rawalpindi zones; therefore, storage capacity of wheat is being increased in both the areas.
He said that supply of wheat is also being improved for the areas having higher Atta consumption. He informed that wheat procurement targets have been given to different areas for the coming wheat season and achievement of these targets will be ensured.
