Chief Meteorologist, Met Office, Arif Mahmood said on Tuesday that a new rain spell is expected from March 19, which would continue for 2-3 days. Talking to PTV, he said that this new spell would prevail in upper parts of Punjab, Kashmir, NWFP and quake-affected areas. It is not expected in Sindh, he added.
He said that the rain spell, which started four days ago, was about to end. During this spell, heavy rain was recorded in Sialkot at 134 mm. This system of waves, which caused the rains in the country, had come from Iran and, passing through Balochistan and Northern parts of the country, caused rains across the country, he added.
Arif said that the rains in the current month were more extensive, as compared to the corresponding period of last year, and added that the new spell of rain would not be as widespread as compared to the recent one.
